The "disc full" scenario happens so infrequently that it's easy to forget how to remedy the consequences with the present arrangement.

Thanks Josef - that was it! I'd forgotten that there are items under the Menu Bar that don't appear under Newsgroups / Properties (where I did most of my tweaking ages ago and where I always go to search out problems).

After years of trouble free service, the auto-save feature of UE has stopped working and I can't figure out how to fix it. The problem started when the save-to disc ran out of space and UE suspended.
