Flagging server for posting - warning for disabled server
I found I had disabled my posting server because I didn't want received messages from it. It meant however that I couldn't post. It took me some time to find out why. There was no indication in properties/server that it was disabled. Nor were there any messages when I tried to post. When I hit post ...

Re: Search failed (7) Error communicating with the server
I've just done some searchers in succession. The numbers were: 9, 8, 5, 9, 5, 8, 6, 9, 6, 7
Are these the numbers of the search servers?

Search failed (7) Error communicating with the server
I am getting this. I have had it before but recently it has happened more often. Is this something to do with the search servers? What does the number in brackets mean? The message wording leads me to think that the problem is at my end. So I've reset the search configuration, turned off my firewall...

Logitech mouse "delete" stopped working on move to Windows 7
I had an XP system in which I had programmed my Logitech mouse scroll button to "delete". This worked perfectly in UE. I've now installed Windows 7 and programmed the same button in the same way with the Win7 Logitech software. The function works in all other programs I've tried but does n...

Multiple versions of downloaded file
When I download files I can get several versions of increasing size. For example, if I download a file called xxx.rar I get xxx.rar, xxx (1).rar, xxx (2).rar all increasing in size. All but the last are incomplete. I was using 3.2.2 when I came across this. In Save/Unpack I had Auto-Rename for Dupli...

Re: default download folder?
Sorry - Jon is a UK name so I assumed too much. This area is confusing. Here is my guess at how it works. 1) You are not using "Default" in the "Save:" box - i.e. you have an explicit location a)If ask is ticked then you get a dialog box starting at that location in the "Sav...

Re: default download folder?
Jon - you misunderstand. For a non-default newsgroup/folder, yes the tick box is available and not greyed out. However it does nothing - you have a default location. A dialog box will come up starting at that location whether ask is ticked or not. In other words you get "ask" behaviour for...

Re: default download folder?
From reading the above, then the ask tickbox is only used for the topmost "default" setting. If it has no meaning for a named newsgroup or folder, then can I suggest that for each individual newsgroup/folder line the tickbox is greyed out please. (It confused me being allowed to tick or un...

Thanks
Cheers Alex - no it is not important and the problem lies with the poster of the file.
I don't know if it is significant but here is a header line from one poster of a "bad" text file:

Missing char after Carriage Return in .txt preview
When there is a .txt file as an attachment, UE displays the file in grey. However some files are displayed with missing characters at the beginning of the line. Looking at the hex of the file, it appears that the file contains Carriage Returns only, not followed by Line Feed. So what is happening is...
