I've sent them the question via the giganews.general support newsgroup on their servers. I quoted your message directly, so hopefully they'll know what you need to know. Thanks for being prompt as always, especially on a holiday. ---- Replies separate from the 2 so far replies, as posted in the giga...

I did as you advised, reset the newsgroup list, disabled compression, then restarted, and the newsgroup list came up normal. So for now there is a work around, I just have to remember to disable compression and restart before getting new groups. Would turning off keep connection alive fix this as we...

Issue getting newsgroup list.
I'd like to preface this by saying I love the program, and know that giganews is not always popular, but it meets my needs. From time to time I do a refresh of the newsgroups list, and have never had a problem until recently, I couldn't tell you the exact build this cropped up in, but I am using the...

Thanks Alex, neither of these are high priority. I just get mildly irritated having to open up irfanview to view gif/png/some jpg files after most of them loaded inline. As far as the @ thing, very few posters name their files this way, but a few do, and Eudora will always open, nothing sends, but i...

Requests: Inline Image - @ code handling
As of now, it appears the only image type that UE handles inline is jpg, would it be possible to perhaps png support somewhere down the line? File names that contain an @ in them, when launched from within UE, will open both the file, and the default windows email client, is there a way to disable t...

Replies in compact binary groups with threads enabled
I'll often do a referesh of a newsgroup, and even after clearing out the entire newsgroup, I'll click the new article filter button, well after the group has finished updating, it will reveal a bunch of individual articles, mostly if not entirely replies, that I wouldn't see if I didn't click on the...

Priority Help
I used Newspro for a long time, and loved the priority system, I could just hit a few keys and set the download priority to a wide range of of priorities. I know there is a way to do this with the advanced menu, I'll just need to figure out a way to do it with keyboard shortcuts in UE. My question h...

Just tossing this in, I found out that my ISP was limiting the speed on certain ports, my downloads from giganews were crawling, just switching the port caused my speeds to jump to the maximum my connection would allow. I've run many versions of kaspersky and recently nod32, and outside of cpu usage...

Feature Request: Speed limit on toolbar
I'd request the ability to add either a drop down icon, or a form function to be able to type in next to the pause/speed limit icon. I find myself often having to change the speed of my downloads as I have to do different tasks, and it would be much more convenient if I could toggle it without going...

Cosmetic Request: Get Headers indicator on Group Tab
Currently to tell if a group is still getting/rescanning headers, I either have to check the running tasks, or pull up the subscribed newsgroup list. In newspro, the [Getting New Headers] was easy to see. My request is to have a small green dot on the group tab if it is currently getting, rescanning...

Sorry for all the problems and thanks for all the help Alex. I think I figured it out. I don't know why the newzbin search doesn't work, but I can live with using their web interface if I need it. I rotated to an alternate port, looks like my ISP is slowing port 119. Luckily giganews allows port 23 ...

The UE search service works fine, it will just take some getting used to. My bigger issue however is still downloading bodies. If I just tag a bunch of files to download, it will get up to about 200kb/s, but averages around 80kb/s. If I rescan a newsgroup, my bandwidth usage jumps up to 613kb/s and ...

I'll give it a shot. UE and Newspro reside on their own hard drive, and all of this has been going on since I had to format my system/c: drive and reinstall xp pro from scratch. I have a newzbin account and always used their search service through UE before the format. I'll double check my anti-viru...
