Re: Adding a new usenet server to two already there
As with most of my problems over the years, I have figured it out. I had too few tasks enabled. Once I increased the number of article tasks, the new server started working. I think I had this question once before. UE's options and settings can be mind-boggling, but that's why I like it so much :D

Adding a new usenet server to two already there
I have successfully added a new server to the list of servers. I can apparently pull down new headers with the new server also. However, when I attempt to download articles/bodies, UE only uses the two servers that I have had for the longer period. Am I missing something to be able to use all three ...

Problem: .par2 files stall in queue
For unclear reasons, while downloading files that have been split with QuickPar, the last few files of the series (.par2 files) seem to stall in the queue.
I'm running the latest version of UE on Windows XP 32 bit.
Thanks.

Re: Something seriously wrong with ngroups
I had to reset my headers for the binary groups I follow on Ngroups today.
Inexplicably, until I reset, I could not download headers more recent than 1.5 days ago yet network activity continued endlessly when I selected to download new headers.

I had some kill filters but none were applied to the group in question. I checked and double-checked that. Initial filter=none Oops...I just noticed that I had set in kill filters to Discard Crossposted when crossposted to more than 1 newsgroup. The articles in question were crossposted to several n...

Now I am very disturbed. I downloaded and installed Xnews (crappy freeware) and I can clearly see the articles in question. What do you suggest? Should I just do a clean install? I guess what is disturbing to me is that I have been using UE for several years and yet the vast array of options is stil...

Headers shown in search not groups (wrong crosspost setting)
Hello. I must be doing something wrong or have a setting in error. When I search for "2009 remaster" in the newsgroups I get a bunch of listings/articles for a certain 2009 remastered discs. However, when I look in the newsgroups in question, I do not see these listings/articles. I can dow...

Standard Windows Download&Save Dialog
I can't seem to figure out how to change the custom Download&Save dialog to the standard Windows format. I looked under properties > articles > etc. but I could not find a way to change the dialog. I think I have asked this question before. Someone needs to write a handbook on all the settings :...

You have been very helpful. While waiting for your reply, I changed the UEBase to a blank folder. I then added my servers and newsgroups back but only with 150 days of retention. So far I have not had the out of memory error. If it recurs, then I will try your suggestion or get 64-bit Windows. Thank...

I'm guessing UE is using all of the 2GB that 32bit Windows gives programs, you could try the /3G setting to give UE 3GB that is described here as UE can use the extra memory, this might get you in to at least change some settings. I'm not a developer. Is there an easier description somewhere of how...

Handling high volume groups on 32 bit system
Over the last 24 hours, version 2.5.1 has resulted in problems for me. I have 3 newsgroup providers. I have about 10 newsgroups in the list. I have headers dating back 240 days in the groups. I have been repeatedly getting "Out of memory" from Usenet Explorer. The program then closes. Its ...

thanks
I installed SP3 without a hitch and no problems with UE.
I installed Avira for a little protection.
I will continue to use the Windows firewall unless someone has a strong recommendation.
Thanks.
