As with most of my problems over the years, I have figured it out. I had too few tasks enabled. Once I increased the number of article tasks, the new server started working. I think I had this question once before. UE's options and settings can be mind-boggling, but that's why I like it so much :D

I have successfully added a new server to the list of servers. I can apparently pull down new headers with the new server also. However, when I attempt to download articles/bodies, UE only uses the two servers that I have had for the longer period. Am I missing something to be able to use all three ...

For unclear reasons, while downloading files that have been split with QuickPar, the last few files of the series (.par2 files) seem to stall in the queue.

I'm running the latest version of UE on Windows XP 32 bit.

The header reset completely resolved the problem

I had to reset my headers for the binary groups I follow on Ngroups today.

Inexplicably, until I reset, I could not download headers more recent than 1.5 days ago yet network activity continued endlessly when I selected to download new headers.

As a side note, when I raised that crosspost setting, approx 30-50% more posts became visible.

I'm guessing UE is using all of the 2GB that 32bit Windows gives programs, you could try the /3G setting to give UE 3GB that is described here as UE can use the extra memory, this might get you in to at least change some settings. I installed SP3 without a hitch and no problems with UE.

I installed Avira for a little protection.

I will continue to use the Windows firewall unless someone has a strong recommendation.
