External access

Hello Is the search service accessible from outside the application? For exemple using an app like LunaSea… Using an API for identification or a username and password…. I have using UE for years solely for the wonderful search engine, and launch my downloads somewhere else. It would be great to acce...

Incompletes when using SSL

Hello,

Why do I get incomplete posts when set to use SSL connections?
Downloading the same discussions, if i revert to port 119 no SSL, all is fine.
Any ideas?

Thank you

Did I hit the limit?

Hello, Lately Newshosting has augmented the retention to 400 days. Since then, when I try to update a.b.hdtv, I am always getting a message box saying "alt.binaries.hdtv cnt.dat overflow. Limit retention, headers per server, then apply retention and invoke group Compact binary-> Compact storage...

Search inaccessible/not working

Hello, Most of the time, and unfortunately when I need it the most, the search engine is inaccessible for me. Now, I know that sometimes the search engine is truly down but I suspect that I too have a problem on my end. For exemple, sometimes my friend can access it while I cannot (he is using anoth...

Anything I should know about downloading to NAS?

Hello, Yesterday I got myself a professional grade NAS ( thank you) and I noticed that UE behaves strangely ever since. For example it downloads and saves files in the NAS, checks them and if necessary repairs them against the PAR2 files (although now I don't see the PAR files anymore) and the...

How do I know which 'misnamed' files are missing?

Hello, If you are familiar with hidden posts in Usenet (such as rapidoor) then you know that the files posted on Usenet bear a wrong filename that is corrected by running Quickpar or by UE while showing in the Unpack tab. Those files, since we don't know their correct filename beforehand, are select...

UE crawls with NHXL Lightning Accelerator

Hello,

I followed NH instructions but still when UE is set with the localhost address my speed drops to a crawl.
As soon as I set the NHXL address everything's fine.
Did I miss something in UE's settings?

Thanks

Re: Same symptom, different cause!

If you lose your connection, UE will begin the download of the segment that was in progress as the connection was terminated. Therefore, UE would not save an incomplete segment to disk until it was downloaded 100%. Wrong. Sorry. What I described is what happens actually. Which is it: your connectio...

Same symptom, different cause!

Hello, I also rarely encounter the problem of incomplete saved files. But the prolem I am refering to is occuring when for some reason my connection to the net is reset (power surge or whatever). UE stalls on a file, then when the connection is restored, it resumes to download. But invariably when t...

Issue closed

Hello, This issue has been solved a long time ago for me. I use Avast as an AntiVirus and AVG for spywares. The thing is they were scanning my downloading folders thus putting a heavy load on the in packets queue. As soon as removed the directories from the sacn list things went smooth. Thanks anyway.

Thank you

Ok, I will check upon those ones.
Why did you ask about kaspersky? I run Avast and AVG Anti-Spyware.
Anyway do you have any recommendations at the performance level for UE settings?

Thank you

Vista system crashes

Hello, I am running UE on Vista Ultimate. The platform is a Core2Duo 2.4 Ghz with 2gb ram. My access to the the net is ADSL 5mb/s. I used the patch for tcpip.sys for upper limit in Vista, but the problem was there before. The sole purpose of this machine is to download Blue rays and HD-DVD from the ...
