An internal viewer just works much faster. Now i have to double click the NFO file, a external program is launched an has to be closed when done. If i accidentely click 1 pixel outside the NFO icon, a new tab is opend first so even more clicks needed. Opening NFO is just a very frequently used opera...

I doubt if many users will use Public Server search. I think it is a bit overaged function now.
Maybe better to make a poll to see if there are anough people who like to have it.

Well since I use UE i redesigned my download harddrive structure. It is still slow on initial save, probably due the reason Josef describes. But i can't figure out if UE does this faster or slower than Newspro because the changed circumstances. So maybe it is the same in UE. Isn't it possible for UE...

mmm, not sure if this is the best option. I remember Newspro took very long (up to a minute) to do the first save. It looked like it scanned the whole drive before I could choose a directory. The Newspro dialog is good, with the big buttons, but it works very slow on a drive with many files. After t...

There is a button in the toolbar which toggles the initial filter on or off. So it is very easy to turn it off. You can even asign a keyboard shortcut to it.

I didn't notice that other type of save dialog. Good work.

Btw, if you first click on the folder where the new folder should be created under, than you have no problem with creating the new folder and renaming it.

Well I had this same problem a while ago. And it had nothing to do with networked database. I set retention lower and applied it and the problem seemed to go away.

Strange problem, but it never came back.

On your first (and worst!) question. I don't know. No idea how this worked in NewsPro. About saving partials: Don't know if it can be turned off but it is a feature. Saving parts of files can be useful because with par2 partial files can be used for repairing. Especially when you leave your computer...

I agree with Gary. It probably would take much more time for Alex to write an convertor than for someone to create a new database.

Even if there was a convertor I'd rather would make a "fresh" database.

I always select the group of headers which I want to save, press ctrl-c, make a new folder and paste it as new name. No problem, it actually takes the first or last headername, but that's fine for me. But "save to a new folder" with a preselcted name from the header subject is indeed a ver...

In principle, when you did Menu File>"Save All" UE should begin in that saved state after a crash. In v1.1 there is an option to do save all every n minutes. If you set this to 5, you never loose more than 5 minutes work after a crash. Did you add these groups in the same session UE (or wi...

I am sure Usenet Explorer solves all mentioned problems.

I can't think of any reason one would stick to NewsPro.
