How to configure ISA and NewsPro Proxy to work together

Post by gopherhockey »

I would like to set up my Microsoft ISA 2000 server to handle my nntp requests. To do so, I have created a protocol rule for NNTP and set it to allow traffic. I am having problems knowing how to set up the NewsPro proxy section, however.

What kind of proxy do I set? I can use a web browser against my ISA server (port 8080) and it works just fine. If I use the same for NewsPro I get various errors depending on what "type" I set it too.

If I set it to HHTP, I get a Proxy Authentication Required error. (even though I have the right access info set). If I set it to socks 5, I get a "Connection unexpectedly closed by the server (20011) error.

Has anyone set up ISA and their NewsPro client to access newsgroups through isa? If so, could you give me some tips on what I might be missing?

Just knowing the proper client configuration to use would be a giant help.
