what does "setting backup" do, how it works?

Post by bassie »

the program saves the settings with "settings backup"

I selected the option, but does it work silently? What does is do actually, does it put back the settings after a crash?

other question: is it possible to save the data of the newsservers (like name, logindata) to a file that can be used when a new install of ue is necessary?

the option is silent, a bit more disk accesses but i optimized disk accesses as well while tuning the option.

still i set it disabled by default, since there is a second line of defense (older settings backup happens always, whether the option is on or not) and system lockups are rather an exception.

the automatic option seems to work, i had a positive feedback already.

help notes contain the descripton of the feature.

all data about newsservers are in reg.dat, so it is enough to copy the file (just reset header ranges aftewards if you use the same newsgroups).
