Uncompress Error

Post by Montoja »

I've a problem with Usenet Explorer. Everytime I try to get new headers from a newsgroup I get 'Uncompress Error'.
I have the latest version of Usenet Explorer, I'm using XSNEWS as usenet provider.

I browsed the forum and saw someone fixed it by disabled NNTP checking in the virus scanner.
The thing is, I don't have a virus scanner, so this can't be the problem.

What can I do?

Is it SSL connection?

If so try to disable edit menu->properties->general, servers, compressed headers, both xzver and xfeature.

Then download headers, if you see compressed bandwidth, it means SSL connection supports compression, so you don't need anything else.

If not SSL connection or there is no SSL compression - try to uncheck xfeature, UE always is trying it first, maybe xfeature is not implemented correctly on the server side, but xzver will work.

If nothing works - you can uncheck both xfeature and xzver to get regular header stream. Or email me server credentials I could try it here, maybe still somehow data stream on your end gets corrupted, even one wrong bit enough to cause uncompress error.
