Having a problem using the password list feature for unrar

I download a number of rar archives whose passwords fit a pattern. Rather than type the password manually for each archive, I've procedurally generated a list of all the possible passwords. However, when I tell the archive to use the password list to find the right one, I end up getting "Unrar: next volume missing", but if I then go and give it the password manually, the unrar works just fine. Are there any restrictions for the password list file? Is there a limit to how many passwords can be in it? Should the file be formatted a certain way, or is one password per line sufficient?

I'll check it out, maybe I missed something.

I split the list into multiple files, and used a script to generate them for me. Each individual file has about 30 passwords, I group-select the archives with passwords in that file and select that file, and I'm getting much better results. Most of them unpack just fine, but I occasionally still get a "next volume missing" error. Setting the password for those archives manually still works.

I tried and cannot reproduce it.

It is just single line per password and it should be exact (e.g. no additional spaces). The number of passwords is not limited.

Maybe you can direct me to a download which causes that error along with the password list.

It could be just the next volume missing, check if all files are there, or maybe the par2 file doesn't list all of them.

When you see it or maybe you remember which download it was - try to invoke the passwords from the password file one by one manually.

Maybe unrar may give the error on a wrong password.

If this is the case, maybe the program should be changed to continue if it gets the error.
