Bypass database storage option

Post by semel666 »

Thank you for introducing it.

Ive just tested it and here are my conclusions:

Conditions:

1)Download queue consists of just one item:

Download speed is definitely much more stable without copying files from a temporary folder to a destination folder.

2)Download queue consists of several items:

a)Download speed of the first item is great and stable.
b) The first item gets unpacked
c)Downloading of the second item while the first one is unpacking\getting repaired greatly slows down due to increased disk usage

Conclusions:

The old way of having files stored temporarily in another place and then moved to destination folder is more suitable for a queue of several items.
Ideally they should be on the different drives. That way unpacking\repairing of the downloaded item doesnt affect downloading\saving files of the following items

If you have to download just one item id stick to bypassing database storage especially if you have high speed internet connection.
