Can't Connect to Multiple Servers

Post by krdu »

Strange problem - I had a 3 MB/s connection which worked fine. The servce raised the speed to 10 MB/s, but my modem was still a 3 MB/s. Everything worked fine. I have 1.9.8, and Giganews, Easynews, and the net server which they outsource to Supernews. The network re-provisioned the modem to raise the speed to 10 MB/s - and UE essentially stopped. Everything else still works fine. IPCONFIG /RENEW shows proper info. UE does what it should - but the parts just flash by never getting above 0 % and no evidence of any error. The article tab shows PENDING on all files. Speed is at 1.5 KB/s. Strangely, search works, and I can get new headers and newsgroups.

What's going on? Obviously something on their end, but it only affects UE and only the download. Where can I see what error is happening? the article (?) tab shows nothing.

Nothing in console view at the taskmanager?

I am not sure what "console view" is but no, taskmanager shows UE trying to download. The Articles tab shows the file name and "Pending." The parts tab shows 0% then when it tries to connect it disappears. The errors tab shows nothing.

most likely you have some server disabled. in the workspace the servers pane delete the disabled server or expand it and detach all newsgroups. maybe i need to add an option something like "don't wait to disabled servers to be reenabled" and make it a default.

then you will see some errors. right now you can also see the last error in the "pending" entry in the articles task manager pane view, context menu, properties, somewhere near the top you see "last error/mishap". if you took care of the disabled servers the articles will go to the ? (error) task manager pane, the ? (question sign) will become red, when you click the tab you'll see the errors as well.

also you can see those errors in the console view after every mishap.

then you check what are those errors, most likely apart from changed connection speed you changed something else which caused the errors.

what error message do you see?
