Hello,
I am not an expert in UE though I use it for a while. But only the basics. So I still need help sometimes. Especially, for finding the right words for actions I like to do in UE.
I would like to do the following:
I am not sure if this expression is right, but I would like to scan headers. In other words (which I hope is right) I want to load all headers starting from from Oct. 29 untill today. But I have not knowledge of where to set the date rage.
Would there be somone out there who can help me? If so, please use "easy" english or even better if possible, make a screenshot.
Thanks to everyone in advance!
help for scan headers
This is a tricky one because news server software isn't particularly good at letting these things just happen. News servers won't let you just take whichever headers you need from a certain date, you can only use Properties->Newsgroups->Headers per server to define how many recent headers to pull down. This is not a limitation of UE but news servers. If you have any idea how many articles have been posted in that date range then you can estimate how many to enter into this setting. However, this is by no means an exact science.
It would save you a headache if you were to enter '29oct07-' in Properties->Newsgroups->Retention/Dates [range] for all the groups you need, download all headers and then right-click the groups you need this applied to and select 'Apply retention'.
Alternatively, you can just download all headers and again use '29oct07-' in the Quick Filter bar to hide all the non-matching articles.
There are many ways to do this but the most elegant (by date range) is not possible and out of UE's hands.
