Filters on Import folder not working?

Post by chili »

For some reason the filter/query bar doesn't seem to affect the display of the import folder. Is this how it's supposed to work, or am I doing something dumb? I have no problem using the filters on the other groups.

Thanks.

there are two dialog bars - the quick filter bar to filter inside the views and the search service dialog bar to access the indexing server.

if you mean search service and the import headers stage to the rigthmost combo box "to" shows where headers are to be imported if you want it to be the import group there should be "Import" there.

if you mean the quick filter bar the rigthmost check box after apply/clear button switched between find and filter mode buttons change between "find/clear" and "apply/clear", the shortcut is ctrl+f (default) but if you toggle the mode it will be everywhere and the find bar is painted with different color so i'm not sure you mean that behaviour.

or you mean the filter bar on the toolbar (filters created with filter editor), try to clarify in short.

Sorry, I had forgotten about this post... The next day, Comcast shut me off and I had to throttle back for the remainder of the month, so was not actively usenetting.

Anyway... yes it's the Quick Filter bar. After a search with the search service, I've imported a number of headers. Now I'm viewing those headers in the 'import' window (not in the search return window). When I mark a header 'read', then hit the 'Unread' checkbox - turning the Quick Filter bar green - it still shows that read message.

I guess I expected the import window to appear like any other newsgroup window, but it doesn't seem to.

Thanks.

probably it is thread and there is unread reply, so you see grey + sign encircled with blue square.

there is an option to filter inside threads in the thread menu - show only headers matching filter in thread.

it is the same in all groups, cannot be different.

I guess it's the threaded thing. It seems that import automatically creates groups or threads, and if you read a single article from that thread, it doesn't get filtered unless the whole thread satisfies the criterea. Although 'deleted' works even within the collection, so I can use that.

Thanks

you can disable threads for the import group if there are only binaries there (properties->newsgroups, import, set threads to no).
