Schedule connection stop?

Post by LarryM »

Hi. I have an odd problem happening with my ISP - the last couple days my UE connections just stop downloading, on re-try they can't connect. After much trial and error, I discovered that once an hour on the hour something seems to happen to the modem, and I need to push the reset button to get it un-stuck. Bizzare. Its got to be Comcast doing something to stop the traffic.

Even more bizzare, I found that if I can stop UE from downloading for a couple minutes before this, it can start up and all is fine.

Rather than queue up just 55 minutes worth of download at a time, is there some way I can schedule UE to stop downloading once an hour for a few minutes and then start up again?

Anybody else having this sort of problem with Comcast??? It just started.

You can just set the scheduler to start/stop at the times you need. In your case it would be:

00:00-00:55, 01:00-01:55, 02:00-02:55

and so on to cover the entire 24 hours in a day.

Then click propagate to copy the times to all the same days from now on. Copy/paste the times into the rest of the days of the week and again use propagate.

Then, enable Tasks->Enable scheduler or the upper right check box in the scheduler properties page and make sure Properties->Scheduler->Disable scheduler on start is unchecked. Occasionally disable the scheduler and test to make sure that your ISP hasn't had a temporary problem so you needn't use this method anymore. I have a Scheduler button on my toolbar for those times when I need to get something immediately, you may want to do the same.
