Just starting using UE a few days ago after using Agent for years. After using the trial for about 3 days I was really impressed with UE and just had to register it.
Now to my problem, I use a large size dpi setting (120 dpi) in display properties/settings/ advanced/general because the regular dpi setting makes things too small to see on my 19 inch flatpanel monitor at native resolution (1280x1024).
On this display setting the ends of the search and quick filter bars are cut off, about half of the open and all the reset buttons on the search, and 95% of the clear button on the quick filter bar. I've looked but I can't find a way to adjust the sizes of these toolbars, maybe I'm missing something.
Using a lower dpi setting is not an option on these old eyes.
I know I can work around this by using the commands in the File menu, but I would really like to be able to use the toolbar buttons.
Would appreciate any advice. Thanks for listening, and thanks to Alex for this great program.
New User Problem with Search and Quick Filter Bar
the bars are dialog bars, it means currently the control layout is fixed.
you can define shortcuts in the toolbar context menu->customize->keyboard or you can put the copy of the buttons on the toolbar customize->commands or to a separate toolbar, while in the customize mode you can also in the context menu of the button to edit its text or image.

Re: New User Problem with Search and Quick Filter Bar
You can try dragging the bars so they are no longer attached to the top of the window and are in "floating mode". This would give you the ability to move the bars left to right so you can see what buttons/selections are available to you. To drag the bar, click and hold the left mouse button on the "vertical line" graphic/symbol that is to the far left of the bar. Then drag the bar away from the top (you will see a rectangular outline of the bar as you drag it away). Let go of the left mouse button and the bar will float over the application.TheBreeze wrote:On this display setting the ends of the search and quick filter bars are cut off, about half of the open and all the reset buttons on the search, and 95% of the clear button on the quick filter bar. Unfortunatly you can't resize the search or filter bar (because there is no "seperator vertical line" within the bar), but like I mentioned above, you can move the bar left to right.
Regarding the Toolbar, if you drag it so it's floating, you can resize it by moving the mouse to the far right portion of it's rectangular box (the arrow cursor will change to a "horizontal right & left arrow cursor" when your at the right spot) and then click and hold the left mouse button and move the mouse to the left. The Toolbar can be reduced so that it's options are displayed in 2 or 3 lines.
Last option (which is probably the least desirable to do, and effects every application you use) is to right click on your WinXP desktop, select "Display Properties", select the "Appearance" tab, click on the "Advance" button and modify the font size for the "Menu" item. I've never tried this, but it may work.
what could be done here maybe in a filter bar to use menu instead of read new etc. check boxes so the left check box area would be removed from the dialog bar itself although the user wouldn't be able to see those filter settings.
the trend now as to the width the resolution is only increasing, those wide screen monitors are much more convenient to use than the standard size.
there are shortcuts for the buttons on the right side in file menu->quick filter->apply/clear (after "apply" goes the "clear" button and then then the toggle mode - quick filter of find bar - check box).
i'll try to check the variant with shorter dialog bars as well.

Lowerin DPI setting didn't help
My new monitor has the same aspect ratio as my old, and I'm having the same problem with the bars being cut off. I tried lowering the DPI setting to 96, and the problem is still there. The "docking the bars" workaround doesn't work either.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
