Save files while it's extracting

Post by dracula »

When UE is repairing or extracting the downloads will be saved in UE Downloads (in the program self). When it's ready whit repairing or extracting UE saved the files in Downloads to the harddisk. Is there an option that UE direct saves the files to the harddisk?

Whit a fast internet connection it become a very long list in downloads before the extracting is ready.

The files that UE downloads needs to be decoded and combined after they are downloaded, so UE needs to save them temporarily to its database, as it can't keep all file parts in memory before saving to the harddisk.

There is a setting to change the Save/Unpack priority in "Menu->Edit->Properties->Tasks->Relative chance to run->Save/Unpack", that might help.
If you have two or more harddisks you could have UEs database on a different disk from your download directory.

Update: Defragmenting the UE database/save directory could also improve UEs performance if heavily fragmented.

jonib, Thanks for the advise. I shall try. I had the UE Database on the same disk as the download/extract folder.

Than i have one more question, is it not possible that UE when it's repairing/extracting at the same time to save the files to the harddisk instead saving to the temporary download folder of the program?

The reason why i ask this is becourse now i have a 24 Mbit line, but soon i will have a 100 Mbit line and i'm curious how it will go with this speed and saving. I'm a heavy downloader so i think if i can't change the settings ill get a big list whit downloads in UE that already is done. But maybe it is already tested whit high speed and it works great. I don't know.

Edit: Aha ok, i see when its ready whit reparing only the first file is slow whit saving after that it's going fast. So i think i'm worry about nothing.
