downloads work / get new headers does not work

HI All,
my usenet explorer works fine apart from when I try to use it with Newsgrabber.nl. When trying to download a file via NZB it works fine but when I try to get new headers it sits there with status '0% retention quick start' for a while and stops with the error 'ssl read error'.
When I switch off SSL it stops with the error 'select time-out error'.
Anybody a clue?

It means the server stalls of certain NNTP commands (not just doesn't support them).

You may uncheck edit menu->properties->general, retention, quick.

If you download headers from huge groups, maybe also to uncheck edit menu->properties->general, let all incoming headers through, then if it takes too long to hit the right retention, you may also limit headers per server in edit menu->properties->newsgroups.

Or, instead of the above, if you have alternative servers you may skip downloading headers from this server, in edit menu->properties->servers select the server and uncheck "Get headers".
