Latest (5.2.1) insta-removed by Windows Defender

Post by Sheffer »

Hi, just downloaded 5.2.1 from the website and as soon as the extraction finished, Windows Defender removes the
UE.exe file and tells me it infected with

Trojan:Win32/Azden.A!cl

Is it just my WD acting up or do we have a problem here?

Try to use the uncompressed version (look for it at the download page). Does it work?

Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

Likely some random sequence in the compressed file resulted in a false positive.

Maybe I'll stop compressing them at all.

Also I found this:

I've submitted both 32 and 64 bit registered version executables to Microsoft.

Can you check if the trial version has the same issue? You can just run it from the browser download folder, it runs on the same database format and won't create any problem.

If you google for the trojan name it is amazing how many programs are affected. Probably they tag every program which has a network activity like UE search.

Thanks for the help, it seems to work fine with the zip file!

I tried downloading the trial, but those are in zip format, not an exe.
Anyway, unzipping and scanning the trial version works fine, no alerts there.
