Moving Newspro to a new drive

Post by jjoslin »

Hi,
Just had to move my newspro dir to another drive. Looks like another maxtor is about to go belly-up.

I changed all of the registry entries that mentioned "D:\Newspro\" to be "N:\Newspro\" and started the program back up. It can't seem to find the database now. Any suggestions? I've done this in the past and never had a problem.

Regards,
Jim

you need to invoke file menu->switch database, point it to the superdirectory of the newspro database 'Data' directory.

e.g.

N:
NewsPro
Data

you point it to NewsPro

I appreciate the quick response, but, well, that didn't work. It still doesn't see the database itself. I had the files in a subdirectory called News under N:\Newspro... i.e.; N:\Newspro\News, so I chose that directory. The program does not load any of the files there at all. Any more ideas?

Hi Jim

Why did you change the registery entries ?
Have you move the newspro program itself ?

I switch database(s) often using the switch data command without problems. (but I've never tried moving the program :( )

If your using XP why not try changing the N drive to D as a quick tempory test, see if you find the datase on D (If so then you coulda missed a registry entry)

Good Luck

Well, the registry change seemed to make sense. I had to move everything to a new drive. I'll try the drive letter thing, maybe that'll do it.
