The ability to drop an NZB file into the Import folder remotely is great.
To provide full remote control over the program, I'd like to see a web server added that would provide access to all controls and settings.
Web Server/Access
It's a perfectly reasonable idea. He means being able to access UE remotely, such as the way I could login to my firewall and change its settings from anywhere in the world.
There is already a way to achieve this if using WinXP. Set up remote desktop - you can either access another computer using a WinXP machine or using a browser (IE v4.0 and above). I haven't used the browser-based RD - maybe I should just to see what it's like. Depending on network speed, operating UE should be fine to control remotely. However, I don't think I would like to check all my groups, etc. remotely due to waiting times for screen updates. I tried this once on my laptop downstairs and there's a significant enough lag in screen refresh to make this sufficiently annoying - and that's on a SuperG connection (108 Mbps).

Actually, given the new underlying database of UE, I suspect that a web page that accessed the database directly could deal with this quite nicely, even with some of the very large newgroups that some of us have.
Direct web access to the configurations would be nice in and of itself. While I agree that the existing Import folder and the pending addition of watch/auto go along way towards automation and remote access, having access to the configuration does add benefits.
For example, say my default save directory/drive is full. With remote access, I can change that directory and initiate a download.
I'm sure Alex will chime in soon with his thoughts on the feasibility of doing this. Not a high-priority item, to be sure, but one that I'd look forward to. It would greatly expand the functionality of this program, which, by the way, is a winner, even at this early stage of development.

i don't know when i have time even to consider something like that.
header lists in ue are optimized for performance and there is some price for low processor usage (more frequent refreshes) it may be not good for remote access (but if it is optimized so the smaller difference between consequtive snapshots the less bandwidth it will take, then it is ok), all was built with high performance in mind, since it cannot be predicted what will be the real performance in the end. if to change only settings remote desktop is quite adequate.
it is not an early stage, there is quite long way before such a program is in releasable state, you don't want to know.
