I used NP for quite a while. I found it worked better to use several database files instead of one (huge) one. At the command line of NP i used the switch /database name. When i try this with UE every time the applications wants to know where to find the database. Is there an option to save this and to work with multiple instances?

Running multiple UE instances
From the readme:
Running multiple instances
To run multiple instances just use the database directory as the program launch parameter, e.g. create shortcut
and add the database path to the target edit control (when spaces inside the path enclose it in double quotes).
It might be easists to copy the exe in a directory, create the database under that and do shortcuts somewhere. Just name the folder accordingly. On the other hand: I now only use one HUGE database, with NewsPro I used about four! I don't think you need to split databases as with NewsPro. I use groups with millions of headers. No problems.

And if you use ALL Compact Binary types, you might not need to break up your database at all. I subscribe to about 120 groups with 35-day retention on several servers and am getting along just fine with one database. For even fewer groups with shorter retention, I used at least six (I think I was up to seven) instances of NP...
