Ok, I'm having two issues with importing NZB files.
First (and worst!) it keeps on insisting on trying to download everything again, even if it has already downloaded half the files. I believe newspro respected the read flag and didn't try to download those files again.
Second, it always saves partials to disk. Annoying as I use the file size as a quick indicator as to when the complete file is downloaded.
Am I missing some settings somewhere?
two problems with importing .NZBs
On your first (and worst!) question. I don't know. No idea how this worked in NewsPro.
About saving partials:
Don't know if it can be turned off but it is a feature.
Saving parts of files can be useful because with par2 partial files can be used for repairing. Especially when you leave your computer unattended. Just select some extra pars and the chance is big all is repaired automaticly because the partial files are saved also.
And if new headers makes the incomplete files complete, the possibility is there to overwrite the partial saved files automaticly. Which I find very handy. I missed this behaviour in NewsPro.
But I have no idea if it can be turned off. But tru to get used to it, maybe you are gonna like it

as to the reimporting nzbs the newspro option proved to be somewhat confusing with many people who were expecting seeing the results always as new, so i tried to keep the things in a straightforward way. and e.g. usenet indexing which i'll be finishing in the near future has independent result storage so it is not possible there to remember flags from "real" headers maybe after i finish with it and there will be interest to the question some option can be added (all options are trivial, just when they are too many it may become confusing for users).
partials saved as long as all available parts has been downloaded, thus when the partial is "complete" in the sense no parts without bodies left. it is not known whether more parts (as headers) will arrive in the future, so otherwise like in newspro you had to check manually the downloads pane for such incompletes to save them. but when new parts do arrive ue will download remaining parts and will save the partial again (to keep it clean you need to use "overwrite" when saving in properties->articles).

If I read these comments correctly, the only way that I can save my incomplete partials is if I allow UE to download ALL available parts. This is not always practical with my choice of servers. I have my IP servers set at Highest Priority as they are available at no extra charge and are fairly fast. I have a couple of “free servers” set at High Priority or Normal Priority. And I have “block accounts” at a couple of servers that I have set at Low Priority and Lowest Priority. Furthermore, I have the “block account” servers set for zero connections since I want to use them for only very important downloads.
The problem occurs since the “free servers” are very slow. With the most recent download that I have been working on, it should finish in about 253h41m36s. However, since I believe that I already have sufficient parts downloaded to reassemble, I really don’t want to wait another 10+ days to complete it.
I have tried “disable server(s)” on all but my IP servers set at Highest Priority and then “retry” all of the “Articles” in the “Task manager”, but it continues to show x number of parts pending and will not produce the “save attachments” command.
Is there some way to work around this?

hi, I have the a similar problem... I'm able to save the downloaded parts if I deselect those files (cancel download). At my end it keeps the parts already downloaded and doesn't delete them as it used to in NewsPro.
Or you double-click on those files. Then in the new tab right-click on the file-icon and then hit save attachments.
Is this some sort of bug? (It's not shown as errors in the ? tab!)

exter

no, the original question was different and since then there some options added for saving attachments (not related to the original question).
as to your question at any moment you can invoke "save attachments" (but you need to cancel download first since if attachments are being downloaded the download queue will prevail, at least it holds for now) and the attachments will be saved.
as to exter comment, logically if files are marked for download attachments being downloaded shouldn't be deleted after save automatically, if it is the case it is ok, but i'm not sure it is what happens, i'll check the actual logic and clarify it here later (maybe tomorrow).
if a topic is old and the question is unrelated better to open a new topic since anyone may easily get confused (the original question was about undeleting headers when you import nzb in the second time and you talk about saving attachments while downloading them or saving incomplete attachments and exter introduces even the third question about deleting attachments after save if one saves them and they are being downloaded in the same time ).

ok so how it works (i also corrected my previous reply) articles cannot be in the same time in the downloads and save queues, so the question with deleting headers/bodies doesn't arise since as a rule there can no save while downloading in the conventional way.
it is not an inherent limitation, in parts mode (when you save rather separate parts than whole partials, there is a toolbar button to put view into parts mode, the green cube made with smal green pieces) it can save parts while downloading other parts, but such save mode is nearly meaningless, you can e.g. save part sources if something is wrong and try to reassemble them with some external utility.
for now to save while downloading, one needs to select headers in the newsgroup or global view, invoke "cancel download" then invoke "save attachments" (probably without deleting headers since we want to download them again), then after attachments have been saved to invoke "download&save" again if necessary (e.g. par2 check showed that we need more parts).
thus if to add the possibility to save while downloading without cancelling download (to separate "save attachments" and "change save path"), we need some argumentation since more options will puzzle more users.
