No files has been saved to my usually folder the last week.
It seems as if all my downloaded files (apx. 16.3 GB) are in the bodies folder.
Are there any chance to get them combined somehow?
Downloaded files "invisible"?
you can invoke "save attachments" from anywhere, bodies i guess you mean "downloads" task manager pane.
you can see article bodies also in newsgroup views (e.g. in edit menu->global view you can filter and see bodies from all newsgroups).
should be some reason why they are not saved, if because of full disk you may still see the attachments in the "save" pane.
ue keeps bodies without any problem like any other text article, you don't have to save bodies right away, you can e.g. download them first and then save them any time later, the body icon only means the articles have been downloaded.

Hi Alex,
Thks for yr answer..
The problem is that when I enter the download folder (d:\Usenet Explorer\downloads) where the files should be when they are downloaded - they are there simply not.
But the folder d:\usenet Explorer\Bodies is growing bigger and bigger indicating that the downloaded files are there. There are 16 folders named 0-9 + A-F and a total of 16.3 GB data named A, 1A, 1A0 etc. apx. 253 kb each file. I have 25.2 Gb free space on the drive.
I have just re-installed UE and now it seems to work "normal" again and the downloaded files are in my download folder... now I'm only left with 16.3 Gb unreadable data
Is it possible to convert these bodies to files?
Brgds

There is a difference between downloading and downloading and saving in UE. Downloads, without saving, are used internally by UE - i.e. you can read or view bodies in UE but not by browsing to them and opening through Explorer. To download and save purely means that UE will combine all the separate segments into each file that was posted and save them to disk in a location you specify. A similar problem was discussed here.
You will either need to open each group containing the headers you downloaded or Edit->Global view to view all bodies downloaded for all groups. Remember to set the quick filter bar to show bodies and then right-click to Save attachments or use whatever shortcut keys you may have specified for saving.

probably we need to open a newbie section.
i estimate current average usenet user raised on binary downloader culture wouldn't be able to master the netscape browser newsreader from 7 years ago.
if we take for example outlook express, say we have an email with an attachment, you can read the email message, you can save the attachment. now suppose we strip outlook express so you cannot read any emails but it saves all incoming attachments in emails into a download folder, then we get something like a binary downloader (maybe email will follow the usenet way in a couple of years so it will be the most popular email use then while people will be only chatting with microphones ). to use usenet explorer in this mode you can invoke download&save instead of just download, but still if something is wrong (like full disk) attachments may stay in the save queue, if you invoked "download" without save they are not placed in the save queue at all but in all cases the article bodies are still there and you can save them at any moment.
no need to pay any attention to the "bodies" directory all is done from the newsreader interface, the directory only keeps message sources text and binary alike, when the bodies are deleted e.g. after save they will be deleted from this directory as well, in binary downloaders it is usually small temporary repository of incomplete messages, in usenet explorer it is like permanent grade storage capable of keeping many gigabytes of article bodies effectively.
