I'm fortunate to be able to download 40-50 connections at once with 3 different news servers via UE 1.7.3.
However, after a few sessions running this many connections, my Windows machine seems to bog down quite a bit. For example, opening a .wmv video may take 1-2 minutes whereas normally it takes 5 secs.
I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
I'm running a pretty fair piece of hardware and software:
Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD 64 x 2 4400+ processor
2 GB RAM
nVidia 256 MB video card
Creative X-Fi Platinum card
2 x 400 GB SATA hard drives
DVD-ROM
DVD-RW/DL drive
Task manager shows 10-25% CPU usage and about 20 MB being used.
I've included a snapshot of Taskmanager without UE.exe downloading at http://vendomeplace.org/taskmanager.jpg
Anyone else?
Thanks.
Jim

if ue does a lot of disk activity like downloading bodies with high speed or saving attachments it may naturally slow down other disk operations, all UE is idle it becomes fast again?
i see memory consumption of UE is low as it should be, also check that e.g. antivirus program won't meddle with UE database and downloads(monitoring file system operations or incoming traffic), it also may cause slowdown, through high memory consumption and resulting disk swapping especially when there is not much RAM installed.
