UE defaults to drive that doesn't exist

Post by aberly »

When I select Advanced|Download & Save Later (Auto), UE begins saving the files to the E: drive, which does not exist. I don't know where these files are going, or if they are going anywhere. But I can tell you that UE is not giving me an error message. Also, when I click on the icon for opening the default save folder, UE tries to find the folder by sending a command to my browser for

Code: Select all

file://localhost/e:/etc.
This could all be my fault. What I did when I installed UE on my new computer is to tell it where the default folder is (on the C:) drive, and then I dumped the files into that folder from my old computer. Or maybe I put the files there first. I don't remember. This was so I would not have to pull thousands of headers again. And on my old computer, UE was saving to the E: drive. So maybe there is a setting in one of those files that got things mixed up. Or maybe I did something else.

Is there a way to fix this? Or should I do a clean install just to be sure?

Go to Properties->Newsgroups and set the save directories there.

I don't know how your UE is set up but if you tend to open lots of groups within a folder then just changing the path for the folder(s) is all you'll need to do. It's possible that you may only need to set the top entry (Default) directory path. Try the default entry first and then check the rest of the goups/folders.

Thanks. I didn't see that before.

This worked. I only needed to change the first one. Thanks again.
