I'm using UE with Newsfeeds.com's servers. For just a few groups, I find the group within the group list and it's properties indicate that six servers cary it with say 50k posts on each server. I subscribe and back in the workspace I select one of the various ways of getting new headers on that group. When I do so however all the servers simply detach and I end up with an empty group. I _suspect_ this means that the UE has concluded that none of the servers actually carry the group. It could be something else entirely.
This happens for a few, very active, groups that I know were carried about a month ago. One possibility is that Newsfeeds is stealth censoring these groups. Has anyone else had this experience? I can't find anything on the web to support this possibility, and if it is censorship, it's odd that article counts still appear when you get the newsgroup listing. Another possibility is that my database has become corrupt or something, or article numberings are tricking UE. I don't really know much about the technical end of header numbering and downloading.
Thanks in advance for any tips on my situation!
getting headers detaches all servers for a few groups
detaching a server is triggered by the server returning "no such group", no other servers can be affected.
it might be newsfeeds switching servers or some kind of bug which triggers the server to return "no such group".
you can verify it by seeing "no such group" in the headers "error" (question sign after the "headers") pane in the task manager.
what you can do though is to uncheck edit menu->properties->general -> servers, autodetach when no such group.
if you see headers disappearing when servers are detached probably you are using other than "compact binary" newsgroup type, it means very significantly increased RAM usage, if newsfeeds doesn't have problem now with retrieving by message-id maybe you better change newsgroup type by resubscribing to your newsgroups (right now there is no option to change the type in another way).
