a couple of questions from a current newpro user considering getting usenet exporer
1) i use nzb files to queue a large number of files - newpro has a database backup feature where if you close and reopen it your queue is saved and in the event of a power outtage or crash - you can start up your queue again for the database backup (automatically) - is this implemented in usenet explorer
2) is it possible to set server priorites like in newspro?
>>> sorry wrong section should be in "other"
newspro vs usenet explorer
the similar option in ue is 'save all' ctrl+s, it doesn't require restart like in newspro.
in the case of a crash ue will try to save everything, newspro don't, because the behaviour should be built in from the outset.
as to power outage or windows crash i could extend the properties area (not much place there) and add periodic save all.

this would be an AWESOME feature!i could extend the properties area (not much place there) and add periodic save all.
A related request, would be backup of settings, such as servers, subscribed newsgroups, preferences, toolbars etc. I would like to see them seperate. So, settings would be backedup in a diffreent file (xml?) from the actual data. This could also help when migrating to another computer, or in event of a system crash you may not be interested in the data, but you want to retain all settings and customizations.
I am always surprised at how many software programs do NOT have auto-backup / save-settings features. When a computer crashes, (or we do a hard drive reformat) it isn't the software installing that takes so long, but the re-configuring of settings for all our programs. IF this could be saved (seperate from data), that would be wonderful!
thanks for listening.
all settings are in the 'settings' directory. reg.dat contains all native settings and the api.* files contain the third party library settings including shorcut section in api.ini.
ue doesn't use windows registry, newspro is using it only during the session.
periodical "save all" is more trivial to implement than the pause button (will take maybe 10 minutes), just need to find some space in properties. but people usually don't ask for it since maybe the system crash or power outage as a rule don't happen.
