On a roll today...

OK, open a group (single or virtual - no difference) and press ALT+SPACE to split the view. Click 'New' on the filter bar to show only new articles. The view remains the same with all articles, both new and old still visible. It isn't until an article is selected that you can recheck the 'New' box to show all new articles. This will involve unchecking and rechecking the checkbox.

Not a huge problem - but it's there all the same.

it happens only in split article view since currently the quick filter is attached to the active window in the frame, to make it work i need to copy ten or so handlers to the article view, the downside would be when you open the full article view in frame (the situation when there is no newsgroup view to apply the quick filter to) the 'apply'/'find' buttons will be enabled but won't do anything (but maybe then to enable them always which will need additional handlers in the main frame).

it is only reasonable to allocate limited time to such small issues, since then we eventually can miss something more important.

Like I said - not a huge problem. One I'd file under 'keep for a rainy day'.
