A little annoyance

Ok, so I've setup my dirs to save to and I have some groups where I still want to be asked about where to save.
I have set it up for like D:\mp3\.
So I want to create a new dir in D:\mp3\ like D:\mp3\test\.
When in those groups and I press CTRL-D the save window comes up.
But instead of showing the contents of dir D:\mp3\ it shows the contents of D:\ with 'mp3' highlighted.
If I press 'make new map' then the map is made but the + in front of the mp3 map dissapears and I can't get to my just made map.
I have to cancel and start again, browse to the new map named 'new map', rename it and then I can save.

To avoid that I have to manually click on the + before mp3 so the folder expands and when I click 'new map' then it makes the new map ,gives it focus and let me edit it's name.

The annoyance is that I have to revert back to using the mouse for that.

If you could possibly expand the folder by default and then highlighting it this would save me from this little annoyance.

Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for having the option 'Count header bandwidth' in UE !

This is a known limitation of the Microsoft dialogue box - nothing to do with UE, I'm afraid. The only solution is either Microsoft fix it or Alex writes a new dialogue box, as was in NP.

If you want to stick with using the keyboard you can easily tab around the save dialogue box so the focus is on the directory you are dealing with, then use the cursor keys to expand the tree.

Yes, I wonder if Alex can implement this somehow. Though I think it may be a little bit clunky in practice.

Yeah. I also have my music downloads set to ask me for a directory each time, and I've got to say, I find the "standard" MicroShaft dialog box to be a pain in the .... compared to what Alex implemented in NP.

It always opens with the directories compressed. It doesn't remember where you were when you last opened the dialog. You can't say "create new directory" to find/open an existing one. And I've got a bunch of directories called "New Folder" adn "New Folder (2)".

Cheers,
Eddie

I use File-Ex which can do this but for some reason (probably wrong type of dialogue box) it can not pick it up. It can catch the individual save dialogues, though, such as right clicking to save an attachment while you're viewing an article. The advantage to this software is that you can define favourite directories that you can select using the drop down list at the bottom.
