'delete headers and replies' sometimes doesn't work right

Post by Robert2413 »

I noticed that if the highest new article in the article pane has replies (i.e., has a + sign) then 'delete headers and replies' seems to only delete one reply at a time unless you expand the thread by clicking the + sign and explictly highlight all of the articles in the thread (i.e., if a header has four replies in its thread then it is necessary to invoke 'delete headers and replies' five times to completely delete the thread). I'm not sure if 'highest new article in the window' is the correct recipe for causing this bug, but it seems that the article in question has to be very close to the top of the window. For most articles, 'delete headers and replies' works as expected.

perhaps when it has the grey surrounding square around the plus sign, which means the root message is not available (e.g. expired from the server), so when the first item is selected it will delete it and its header and replies, but then because it has more branches coming from the root message they will appear instead.

you should invoke 'delete discussions' instead, i think it is in the advanced sumbenu (you can create a shortcut), then it will delete everything connected to the thread.

newspro showed such messages with missing root message in separate threads, ue joins them in one thread, which is more logical, but it aplies 'delete headers&replies' literally (otherwise it wouldn't be possible to delete only the first branch).

To try to emulate NewsPro, I had mapped <alt>X to 'delete headers and replies'. Following your suggestion, I remapped it to 'delete thread' instead. So far, I have had no problems since I made the change. Thanks.
