Apologies if this is already posted, I couldn't locate.

I want to search for text within headers that have already been pulled donw from my news provider.

Search (xpat) seems to search servers (online search?)

How do I search if offline?

you can create one large virtual newsgroup containing all subscribed newsgroups and then to use quick filter. e.g. select newsgroups you want to look in and then invoke 'combine newsgroups' from the context menu.
