Font and color customization

I have a few comments/requests:

- the ability to change the background color on headers, filters, etc... is great but it would even be better if the ability to choose background color is also given to New, Read, Deleted, etc...

- Also, I've noticed on MS programs, even though the smallest font that you can choose is 8, you can always manually type a smaller font into the text box = 7, 6, etc...

- The ability to choose a different font for each type of header: new, read, deleted, etc... would be a treat!

at least with background i'll check it, it is several minutes to add, i'll spawn a project and if it looks ok i'll leave it.

as to fonts the font sizes shown are set by the font designer, i only added an option to set a custom size font for the tree view, the question is what font with smaller size than recommended will be acceptable for headers (you can check how it will look in the workspace window, by entering the size manually in the tree&console font size edit box in fonts&colors).

I just think I like certain fonts but since I don't have a huge monitor (laptop), I think a font 7 on Tahoma would look better for me. It's not a deal breaker but it would be nice to be able to type in any size I'd like.

For us old guys (with bad eyes tho), etc etc :)

I would like to see a filter that would turn a particular header a particular color. E.G. Make headers with my nym in them RED/ Blink or something :)

you can use the 'find' filter (the rigthmost checkbox), a cyan colored sizeable oval appears to the left of the matching headers.

i checked different background colors it doesn't look so good, there are stripes, maybe i picked up wrong colors :)
if to add the option when someone doesn't want to use it, it would be needed to change the background for every header state (5 color boxes instead of one now).

hi alex, what do you think about this request? are you still considering adding background image options for new read deleted?

i tried it it doesn't look good. this is stated in my previous message above.

there is also a program called dynamic dns updater from www.dyndns.org (when you use dynamic dns) in its options in log it has different background color for different log entries. you can have a free account there and you can try to add some dynamic dns hosts, use the program and check the log.

it looks like stripes, maybe the key is in the right choice of colors, i don't know.

the question is if most people won't use it when they want to change the background color they would need it to change in 5 places (all possible header related backgrounds which are now filled with the single "headers" background).

can't you have a default color for all of them which is what it is right now - White. Then if you prefer, you can have different colors for read or downloaded ones.

I'm just used to being able to distinguish different types when i scroll really fast. In Newsleecher, they have this feature.

I know I'm requesting too much for someone who's only evaluating the software :?

do you have a good artistic eye?

i could give you a version with stripes some time later (i'll be busy for some time with preparing v1.2 release, but i can do it when e.g. i'm tired).

then you color it and we'll see whether it may look good (you agree to give me a link to screenshot in exchange for the trouble of me preparing such a version even if it takes several minutes).

the problem not setting the initial background color, suppose i want to change the background color, then i need to click five color boxes instead of one right now.

just when i added my colors it looked so ugly i dropped it.

a striped GUI? I'm not sure if I'll like it. The color would be ok and I'm more than willing to post a screenshot of what I visualize my UE to be :D I'll set it in a way that it won't look horrible at all and it would be very functional

maybe these are just wrong induced habits.

i remember i had a colored dictionary (words shown in different colors), it looked ok when i bought it but in the end i was back to a plain text edition.

but we'll try that.
