Imports wont download - User malfunction no doubt

I haven't written here in a while. The program has been running perfectly for all that I use it for . I tried the Index search to locate a rar file that I somehow missed in a series.

I plugged the name of the file into the search bar and tada there it is showing up in the "import" tab. Now right clicking it and choosing "Download and save attachments" does nothing (which btw I am elated at the improvements with the save dialog)
What I mean by does nothing I mean that it goes through the whole save dialog where I want to save it and do I want to delete headers blah blah and when I hit "ok" it doesn't start downloading it ... it doesn't ad it to the task manager either. In the past when I came to this problem I went to the actual newsgroup and set up for it to download from there... but in this case the item I desire does not show in the news group list even as a deleted item.

So am I missing a step? Not doing this right? Please help.

check you have news servers defined for the group in question.

Yes I have the group subscibed to as well as all servers are attached to the group (Giganews unlimited account, Adelphia/ Giganews account, and a freenews account)

Having the group subscribed to will make no difference. Do you have all servers you want to use attached to the import groups? Those are the important ones when you're using NZBs or the search service.

Thanks Josef That was it! I didn't have any of the servers attached to the import folder. Not exactly sure why they weren't attached from the begining but hey can't argue with success!

Thanks

I've had this happen to me in the past. It was after a crash so something made servers detach themselves from a lot of my groups randomly. Maybe you had a recent crash or unexpected shutdown?

Maybe import groups should have a box pop up when there are no attached servers.

i tried to answer it yesterday but it didn't want post the message :)

since then i added settings backup in properties->general, it is unchecked by default though (but performance impact when checked is minimal), it ensures that settings. losing settings may happen after system lockup or sudden power loss, if it is not frequent e.g. once a year you can resort to reg.old etc. files, but if it is an issue just check settings backup. see UE.txt

but if you removed the servers yourself the program doesn't put articles in the queue unless there are some servers are attached to the group.
