Downloads

Hi,I'm new to usenet explorer and i am having probs downloading bodies,search is fine,headers is fine but highlighting bodies and clicking on download and save just doesnt seem to work, can anyone help me Thanks !!

Are you using right-click to download & save? UE will present you with a browse dialogue box to ask you where you want to save your files.

Check Properties->Newsgroups and see if the checkbox in the lower right corner is checked - maybe you somehow deselected it and files are being saved but you don't see it happen or remember where to.

hi,i have now managed to get downloads from newsgroup after downloading the headers but still cannot get downloads from the search folder, when i right click a body in the search folder it allows me to specify which folder i can download then places the file into the import folder but even then i cannot get it to download the body, all i get is a small green box beside the name of the body of the file ' no ticks or question marks in the green box.i have set all my settings the excact same as my friend's prog which is working fine but to no avail, hope this helps you to diagnose the problem

Right-click the Import group and select 'Attach all servers' then try again. It may be that you don't have any servers attached which will not allow UE to download anything.

Possibly we should have a sticky for this particular issue in the support section. This has come up on several occasions yet it's such a simple solution.

right now the only cause of losing settings may be system lockups or sudden power faiolure when the system doesn't have a chance to commit all changes to disk so if the settings file is not in the consitent state on the hard drive it may lose some settings.

but in UE.txt stated that if you experience persistent system lockups you just need to enable settings backup in properties->general and otherwise you can use older copy of the settings file which is done whether the option is enabled or not (if you noticed the problem right away).

so this is not something which routinely happens, it is why settings backup is not enabled by default.
