Downloading bodies (preferred method)

Hi,
I'm beta testing Kaspersky Anti-virus 6 beta and had very swingy downloads with UE and very swingy cpu usage (to 90+) for KAV and UE.
I was planning to ask here if there was a way to solve this problem.
I looked in the forum and found this article:
http://www.netwu.com/newspro/phpBB2/vie ... s&start=15
There I saw that there are 3 methods for downloading headers:
Article number,Msg-id direct and Message-id; standard it is on Msg-id direct.
Using Message-id gives a non swingy download and cpu use and solved my problem; I'm very happy :D :D
The other 2 don't.
My question is: what is the difference between these 3 download methods for headers? and why the impact on a virusguard.
Thanks,
Bob

the default is message-id (try a fresh install).

but in fact it doesn't matter which method if the server is working properly and if article number is set in most cases it goes message-id since article number is not available unless you are using article numbers newsgroup destination type.

it is related to downloading articles, not headers, just the strings which server issues, msg-id direct is one line and the rest is 2 lines (select newsgroup + article number/message-id) respectively.

with antivirus i cannot tell you anything since it is not related to the application itself, just antivirus is below the application level and it messes with winsock, if you observed difference as to headers download body method is not the cause, UE just issues reads/writes over TCP protocol, very simple sockets usage.

maybe you should try to disable something in settings so it won't mess with the UE socket data, and the database directories (except for the download directory where you save attachments) anyway it cannot be some banner or a virus directly.

Thanks alex,
Sorry I'm a bit late.
I saw that there is a new RC of KAV.
I will give it a try.
