Would it be interesting to let ue download only part of the par2 or par files?
Now it is no par files or all par files.
But only afterwards i usually see if i need all par files or not at all. But with a good server like newshosting only a small amount of par files are usually necessary, or sometimes indeed not necessary.
By saying "download only 4 par files or 5 files, or a percentage of the par files found" the extra download time is not so big and the change of getting the post complete is bigger.

small amount on the top of download usually doesn't matter, in principle we could set some percentage, to make the latest collection par2 option like the pause button, allow some leak. e.g. 1GB download 1% is 10MB, not much, so percentage terms would be ok. also this way we'll avoid exact science and unnecessary complications gaining in performance. then to make it to work on marking selected headers for download as well.
we need to think though what to do when there are several par sets in collection or selected for download, i guess alphabetically they may preceed the normal content files or follow them, but maybe it is possible to add some logic.

we'll see, probably if to add such an option maybe to discern when you selected files through "select related headers", then it will be treated like collection, which means the option in effect; if selection was changed otherwise then all files would be marked for download. also maybe to keep it 100% by default 
What would be an alternative option (i think) is that there is communication with the program that checks the rar and par files (for example quickpar, autounpack, or usenet automation (http://una.ramonvanbruggen.nl/)).
That program would say "i have checked everything, but i am missing pars or rars, please ue give me more of that files". Maybe if that program has some output file that can be read by ue, etc. etc.
