Saving to Subfolders - Issues

When downloading multiple mp3 files, I usually just download the bodies, and then go back later and save them into folders and subfolders by artist and album. In NP, this was never an issues, just created new folder, then new subfolder, and saved.
Now, when I create the "artist" folder, I try to go back and create a subfolder for the album, and the program automatically creates a "New Folder", and won't let me rename it. I then have to cancel, save again, and create the subfolder. Can you add the original save method back into UE, or is that lost forever.
Also, I have the Newsgroup Default Save folder set, but every time I save a new group of files, it defaults to a completely different folder. Even after I save multiple groups of files, it still defaults to a different place, not the last saved, and not the default. Any suggestions
Thanks for the great program.

which system are you using?
i designed a fix to prevent "new folder" bug (it is windows bug but i heard it is fixed in windows vista). you can also delete "new folder" or rename it through the context menu.
also newspro-like dialog is still there properties->general->custom browse for folder dialog.
as to saving how it is supposed to work in properties->newsgroups the topmost "default" entry folder is not any more the last saved folder since the folder is also used for "auto" save mode and thus cannot be variable.
if the newsgroup "save" folder in properties->general is set to some folder - when you save it will always start with this folder; if it is "default" it will use the last saved folder.
also in properties->articles->auto download&save (if you use "auto" mode, it is also set when you download nzb files automatically e.g. through double clicking the file or import folder - properties->general->import->folder out of nzb name) there are settings ot create automatic subfolders wich you can disable if you like.
if it is something not from above try to elaborate step by step.
i was trying to reverse engineer winrar since it has a proper dialog along with looking into windows sources but didn't succeed, maybe i'll give it another try. i wonder why the microsoft bug survived for so long (you'll see this behaviour with every windows application which invokes the dialog - even if you invoke in winrar file menu->browse for folder and try to create a new subfolder you'll get the same result but in their other dialog - "extract to" the problem is avoided by somehow embedding the browse for folder list control into the winrar dialog).

I am uxing windows XP Pro. I end up having to go in and renaming the "New Folder" every time, after I hunt down where I actually want to save the file.
I have 3 folders set up, movies/downloads, music/downloads, and cracks/downloads. The "default" save is music/downloads, and the individual newsgroups are also set to save to music/downloads. Every time I save a file, it somehow defaults to the cracks/downloads folder, and I have to follow up the tree, back to the main UE folder, then into music/downloads, then create the new folder/subfolder for artist/album. As soon as I save, I go to the next file, and try to save it, and have to go back through this, instead of it defaulting to either the main music/downloads like it is set for, or to the previous saved file location. It always goes to the cracks/download folder.
Your last statement about the newsgroup "save" folder is NOT holding true. All of my MP3 newsgroups are set to save to music/downloads, but they all are trying to save to the cracks/downloads folder instead. If I set their save target to "default", it still opens with the cracks/downloads folder, except now, it doesn't even offer me the option of creating a new folder and the folder trees no longer automatically expand when clicked upon. I have to manually select the music/downloads folder, then manually type the "\artist\album" into the to window of the save dialogue.
I did just find the "newspro" settings, which are actually in properties->articles->custom, (not general) but it is still defaulting to the cracks/download folder every time. I don't have "cracks/downloads" set as the default for ANY newsgroup/server, etc. Where is it picking this up from, and how do I change it?
Everything else is working perfectly, so I hope we can find a fix for this.
Thanks again for the great program.

ok now i understand your question.
if you want folder to have a non-default save directory you need to set it in properties->newsgroups for the folder itself as well, settings for newsgroups are only for those newsgroups when opened separatedly.
the reasoning is since the topmost entry is "default", "default" for the save directory means the topmost entry save directory when we are talking about automatic options (since otherwise it would change in unpredictable way) and the "last save directory" when you choose save directory manually e.g. when invoking download&save, so it is like linear approach; also there are other settings, would be difficult to grasp otherwise.
for watch/auto and kill filter panes the topmost entry is "newsgroups" so here the filters etc. are additive, so if newsgroup belongs to a folder it uses the folder filters as well etc.
in short just set desired save directory in properties->newsgroups for those folders.
