How do I see deleted headers?

There was a switch in Newspro to view deleted headers, but I can't find that switch in UE. A message on the forum suggested using the Quickfilter, but that doesn't work for me.
Maybe I'm having a series of stupidity moments, but how can I undelete a header when I can't see it?
Please tell me in elementary terms what I have to do.
The problem is compounded by the fact that Shift+Del was used in Newspro to delete message bodies. Unfortunately in UE it deletes the header and I've serveral times used that key combination in UE when I only wanted to delete the body. I'd like to be able to recover from my own dumb mistakes, but I don't know how.
TIA for anyone's suggestions.

in the quick filter check the "del" check box.
in the latest versions (see release notes) also ^del will be checked automatically so you can see both deleted and not deleted, if you uncheck ^del then you'll see only deleted.
if you used shift+del no problem (it means delete headers&threads). if you want to delete bodies just press "del". the reason is in newspro there was such notion as "focused entry" in usenet explorer there are only operations on "selected entries" when it makes sense. so no need "shift+del" for selected and "del" for focused like in newspro.
in short select a header and try invoke shift+del on it. then check "del" in the quick filter and you'll see the header back. then you can invoke "undelete" from the context menu.
in newspro "show deleted" was relatively slow, in usenet explorer "deleted" is just a flag so it is like marking read. if you use compact binary groups better use deleting headers instead of purging them to prevent reentry.
if you don't see headers you think you deleted - probably you purged them - then rescan headers (check in properties->general->rescan that it will rescan the proper range, limited rescan is also a new feature in usenet explorer although it is rather something small).

I must be doing something wrong or there is some configuration option that is not set correctly.
You're suggestion does not work for me. I highlight a header, press Shift+Del, the header disappears. Then I check Del in the Quickfilter, but the deleted header does not come back.
I had already tried that anyway, but I followed your suggestion and tried it several times. No headers are recovered and all newsgroups are set to the default, Purge = No.
This is very frustrating.

i think i know what is the problem.
to the right do you see "find" "clear" buttons?
in such a case uncheck the rightmost check box so it will be "apply" "clear". it is the quick filter.
"find" "clear" it is the find bar which overlays with the quick filter. the find bar only to find matching items or highlight them, you cannot show them both in the same time.
you need the apply filter to be visible for this to work.
maybe i'll add a selected topic highlighting the point.

I couldn't see the clear button or the check box next to it because they were both off the screen.
I'm running a 1280 x 1024 desktop at 120 dpi. If I change to 96 dpi I can see the whole quickfind bar and it works like you said, but that makes all the fonts on my desktop VERY small.
It would be good if the bar could be a less wide for people with old eyes.
Another suggestion: When I open a newsgroup in UE, the current position is always at the top of the article list. In Newspro the current position was normally where I was last browsing when I closed it. I would like it better if UE worked the same way.

the toggle mode button is ctrl+f, if you see it happening just press ctrl+f (file menu->quick filter->toggle mode, you can also customize the program and delete the shorcut alltogether, right mouse button on the toolbar->customize->keyboard, category: file then look for toggle mode).
i may look for other gui solutions after some more work on bare functionality, there are not so many options if we want to keep the program working fast, microsoft didn't give too many options to programmers within their c++ development framework, right now probably the best chance is a hybrid language application which is quite questionable.

i'll change the background color of the find dialog bar in the next version so there will be no such confusion any more.
