First off, let me begin by saying i love this program..its by far the best news reader i've ever used (and i've tried lots).

The other day i was perusing through a picture group randomly clicking on pictures. These pictures i really had no intention of keeping..i was just going to view them and then eventually delete the headers.

Now i noticed that after each picture is downloaded that you can double click on one of the articles and it will open the picture up in a new tab..This is good.
However i also noticed that to close that picture (or tab), you have to either goto the top of the screen and either double click the tab or click the close button..So if the articles (headers ?) your clicking on are down the bottom of the page, then for each picture you have to move your mouse to the top of the screen, then down to the bottom of the screen, then back to the top of the screen and so on and so on.

Now i also noticed that if you double click that picture thats opened in the new tab, that it opens that picture up in whatever picture viewer is the windows default picture viewer. This means Usenet Explorer can actually detect what is a picture and what isnt.

My thought was..perhaps you could add an option where instead of double clicking that picture opening up the picture in the default viewer, it actually closes that tab.

This would make it a lot handier for browsing through those picture groups where you have no intention of keeping the pictures...You could literally double click to open the picture and double click to close the picture practically without moving the mouse.

Try opening your folder TAB then turning split on, (icon at the top right by default) and pulling up the bottom of the window (the split is located right below the left/right scroll bar) to about 1/3 to 1/2 the screen.

Then in the top part of the window when you see an article you would like to view just press the SPACE bar. It will download that immediately and you will view it in the bottom part. You do not have to double click or launch anything in another tab at all.

You will have to remove or save them from the tasks--downloads tab if you use the SPACE bar though. I like doing that though as it is much faster. If you choose to actually download and save or any other option it prompts you and they do not seem to display below. It is also easy to just flag everything in the end and delete them.

I use this for text messages and .nfo files and it works really well. You can really zoom through viewing stuff.

I just wish there was a way to set the default view setting for where the split is for each folder so you do not have to resize it every time you open a new folder and have to turn split on again. Setting each folders split status on opening would be cool as well.

You in a newsgroup filled with pictures..but you have no intention of downloading all of them..so you randomly click on them.
You might click on the 1st,4th,11th,15th,21, picture and so on, right down the page. As these pictures load, i just thought it would be handy to not have goto the top of the screen to close each tab after i've double clicked it to open it.

I could do it your way..but if your like me and many other people with only a 17" LCD monitor..then your running 1280x1024 and to open the split screen far enough to show the picture without having to scroll it means that the window showing the articles is very small indeed..probably showing no more than 10 articles.
Also since yourve clicked on random pictures..this means there are plenty of blanks inbetween, so using your cursor keys to scroll down the list is annoying on such a small window.

Once again , i just thought it might make a good feature to add in that you could have the option of using or not using

Sorry, just trying to help. I now understand what you want and will stand aside for the experts

there is the rigthmost W pane in the workspace.

it enumerates all open views and article views are grouped together.

you can select all those and invoke "close" from the context menu and they all will be closed right away.
