Downloads "stuck" in bodies folder

Hello,
I am using ue 1.7.3 . It seems that even if I select which folder I want the downloads to go, they still go in the generic bodies folder. The folder is encoded so I can not just move the downloads to the folder I want them in. In the past versions this would sometimes happen and I would right click (highlight and save all attachments) and save attachments where I wanted them. I can no longer do this. It just does not save them when I do this. If I click on on header that is saved and right click on the zip file it will still do this. This is not practicle for 50 files. Any help would be great. Thanks

As of this time I have a 31 gig bodies folder. HELP!

when you mark something for download it shows the destination folder in the task manager "articles" pane while downloading and in the "save" pane while saving.

you can set the number of tasks to 0 in edit menu->properties->tasks so no actual download will happen and you'll be able to observe the download directory, or you can pause save queue file menu->default toolbar->pause save queue so you can see where attachments will go before actual save.

also check your edit menu->properties->articles->newsgroups, the topmost "default" entry what is the directory in the "save" field below and "ask" is checked, if you want the program to ask for the save directory.

if you accidentally invoke auto download&save there is an option to move it to "advanced" submenu properties->articles->auto download&save..., but it is the default.

in short all is transparent in the sense you can actually see the save directory in the task manager and you can tune the program to ensure it will ask for the save directory or to adjust it, if you need more details try to refine your question further given the said above.

Thank You!

Alex,
I tried all of the above and it worked.

The downloads were set up to go to the correct folders. I double checked in the matter you prescribed and everything was correct.

I then tried the other adjustments you had recommended. These adjustments were all made at the same time so I am not sure which was the “fix” .

I suspect it was changing the task from 40 to 4 but more than likely changing the > pause save queue button. (which I don’t really understand)

After the adjustments were made, UE started to distribute the downloads to the folders that were selected. Itt has been more than an hour and UE and my harddrive is still humming away putting all the files in the folders.

Thank you very much for the help! I am very HAPPY!

I just wish I knew how I screwed up my settings and how I really fixed it.

most related options are in properties->newsgroups if you open this settings pane and you click on newsgroup or folder in the list you see the save path associated with it in the "save" field below, if it is default the topmost "default" entry settings will be used.

so maybe you messed something with the "default" entry.

if "ask" check box to the right of "save" is checked for the given newsgroup or folder and the save path is "default" - instead of suggesting always the topmost entry save path the program will suggest the last save folder instead (and the save path you chose won't affect the properties default entry settings) since it is the most intuitive thing to do but when the save path is not requested ("ask" is unchecked or you are using auto download&save) the save path is defined in the edit menu->properties->newsgroup pane.

so if you have "ask" unchecked and you see some wrong save path in the task manager consult properties->newsgroups to change that, there is no magic here.
