Hey everybody! Brand new user checking in.

First of all, I'd like to thank Alex for an excellent program. I've only been using UE for about 3 days but that was enough time to convince me to cough up the registration fee. Full-time access to the index search service was worth the price alone.

Anyway, my problem is that I can't seem to get Scheduler to throttle bandwidth during a specified time period. Since, I've already successfully configured it to "suspend tasks" during this period, I figured that all I needed to do was uncheck the "suspend tasks" box and, instead, fill in my desired download limit of 200kb/sec. This doesn't work, though, and UE still downloads at maximum speed.

I can successfully throttle bandwidth using Properties>Tasks>Bandwidth but I'd much rather use the Scheduler to shape traffic to suit different times of day.

Anybody have any ideas? Am I overlooking some obscure setting somewhere?

Oops, nevermind. I've figured out my problem. Whereas Scheduler suspends tasks outside of the designated time period, it limits bandwidth *within* the designated time period. I find that a little confusing and non-intuitive.

I find that persistence is the key, however, and overall I'm greatly enjoying the software.

if it appears to you more logical you can instead limit bandwidth in properties->tasks->bandwidth and not to put bandwidth value in properties->scheduler (just leave it empty), then the scheduler will limit the bandwidth outside the time period.

in UE i just replicated newspro options and since newspro comes from the modem times, the purpose of the scheduler a long time ago was to keep phone line connected at the times intervals (when the phone company was charging on time basis), then while modem and high speed connection coexisted the option had been added to limit the bandwidth value.

so what is non-intuitive the bandwidth settings are in two different panes, but the integrity is there, in principle bandwidth settings could be moved to the scheduler pane so it would become "scheduler/bandwidth", actually there is a lot of space there and since now the main purpose of the scheduler is to limit bandwidth (ue is not dial-up oriented as newspro so the host of newspro versatile modem related options are not in ue) it would be logical to have the settings together.

Yes, that would work. It's not that big a deal for me, however, it just took me awhile to figure out Scheduler's behaviour.

I think this makes a lot of sense. As you say, it would be a logical grouping and there appears to be room. Also, this would slightly reduce the clutter in the Tasks tab.
