Bandwidth limiter not working in 1.7.4

Post by merlyn »

Sorry if this has been mentioned before. Thought I'd better let someone know the bandwidth limiter does not appear to be working in 1.7.4. I've had to retrograde back to 1.7.3.

I set bandwidth to about 85% of my connection and then have the scheduler remove the limit overnight. It's been working really well for quite some time until I upgraded last week.

I suppose I could try using the scheduler to impose the limit and switching the times around but it's quite handy to mess with the limit at times. Sorry i just thought of that, I'll have to try it later.

Let me know if there's any other things I should be looking at.

i changed scheduler bandwidth settings after potential misunderstanding mentioned in this thread:

http://www.netwu.com/newspro/phpBB2/vie ... ight=#9516

but i did it not exactly as i outlined there (bringing together all bandwidth related settings) but i rather separated scheduler bandwidth settings (when scheduler is enabled) from properties tasks pane bandwidth settings.

just it is more logical, it is in the release history

http://www.netwu.com/newspro/phpBB2/vie ... php?t=1366

when scheduler is enabled now only scheduler bandwith matters, you set scheduler bandwidths for both active and inactive intervals in the scheduler pane in edit menu->properties. the empty value means no limit.

still as in the past if you pressed the pause button any bandwidth setting at the moment will be overrided with the pause bandwidth setting in the tasks pane.

with the old settings layout the meaning was a kind of reversed causing some confusion now everything is much more clear. older bandwidth settings were transferred from newspro and there the idea of the original design was suspending tasks with disconnect while on pay per time used dial-up.

in short just open edit menu->properties->scheduler and set bandwidth for inactive interval.

if there is any problem with the new option let me know, the change was pretty straightforward.
