rar program to make rar files while posting

I want to post something with the poster of UE with using the built in par2 maker. I manage already with using quicpar and make the par files and put them in the post list. Would be nicer to use ue for this as well.
I make a connection with "rar.exe" in the winrar installation directory.
(edit-properties-par2 utility). But maybe that is not the right program.
I remember one could download that small program from somewhere and make the link at edit-properties-par2 utitility. But i have been looking and looking in the forum and cannot find it.

Anyway when i press "Start Par2" quickly a dos screen appears and disappears. Further nothing. So i am doing something wrong here.

i think that it should come from here:
http://www.par2.net/products.php (par2 command line utility).

Even after installation of that utility i don't see par action.
Should that automatically start after the rars are posted or so?

edit: now i see: i have to select all rar files then and then press the button i guess.

UE can only be integrated with the par2 command line client.

It should be set in edit menu->properties->par2 utility

If you pointed it to something else - it won't work.

After you enter files - press "start par2" when it is finished the button will change to "clear par2" and par2 check box will become enabled. Then you just press the post button to post.

Initially par2 client is not set then UE prompts to download it from the UE website.

par command line makes cpu go to 100% ?

I did what you said.

And actually it worked when i did a test post of 10 rar files (without actually posting it at the end) and it made 15% redundancy par files.

But the next time i tried (also after restarting computer, so fresh start) a big post of 110 files never finished the making of the par files.

Then i tried a small post of about 1 gigabyte and the par command line utility or someone else is so slow!
Then i looked in the windows task manager and the cpu was 100%. After stopping making pars the cpu dropped to the low level like 10 percent.

Maybe it's just my computer. Maybe i use the wrong version of par2 command line: par2cmdline-0.2.x86.win32

A few days i cannot spend so much time on this because i will be busy. But then i can test more.

Now i found somewhere version 0.4 but that also gives 100 % cpu and is slow.

But now i least see the percentage of the work that has been done. Meanwhile cannot do much with the computer.

For now it looks like it is smarter to use quickpar to make the par files and post them with ue.

www.par2.net looks like google ads selling site which doesn't list the latest version.

the last version is 0.4, one can get it e.g. from source forge (but you have it already)

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... p_id=30568

but the same version is downloaded from the par2cmdline file location in UE is not set.

someone told me that par2 cmd line and quickpar are the same as creating par2 sets, do you really see any difference? when you test you need to ensure that you use the same parameters e.g. percentage since when different the par2 set creation time will be different as well.

just i estimate unlikely they changed the creating par2 code, they rather optimized repair, the code which i'll use in the ue works like quickpar as to speed, but i had to write it myself, par2 cmd line in repair is slower than quickpar but there is no quickpar source code available.

with 0.4 everything works ok, in principle i could integrate the code into UE but then i would need to rewrite it as well since the way it is using memory would fragment address space of the UE process so it then may crash running out of virtual memory, when launching as a separate process.

Yes, tthere is a significant difference between quickpar and the cmdline par.
Quickpar is faster, and uses much less resources enabling to do some other things at the same time.

Still the provider change is going on. The one i had is gone, the new one should be there (because they mailed and already withdrew the money). But there is a dsl signal (green light there) but no internet (no led burning).

Luckily i can use the mac mini who has a built in wireless networkcard and can connect to some wireless network in the neighbourhood.

:D

the helpdesk did not help. They said that "people were working on it".

So what i tried now was doing a complete reset of the modem and wait.
Then the internet worked again, good. Especially because their payserver is freely included:D
