Can I save a file manually

Post by Mierzoet »

Hi.

I have one file missing from an archive I have been downloading.
The archive consist of approx. 40 rar files of 15MB.

One rar file consists of approx. 40 parts.

Part 30/40 is not being downloaded, whatever I try.
The Console tells me that, part 30:
Error 430 No Such Article (Server)

The part still remains in the articles list, with 1 part pending.

The archive can not be repaired without this rarfile.

If I would now be able to save the file, even without the missing part, I would be able to repair it.

So all in all, I'm missing 1 part out of approx. 1600 parts, I have enough par2 repair files, but still can not repair it.

This is quiet lousy.

in edit menu->properties->save/unpack there is an option "ignore no such article errors", it should be checked by default.

It's checked (did not alter it), but the situation remains

I installed a diffirent server, to try and get the part. But to no avail, it is also missing from that server.

check you don't have servers with zero tasks in edit menu->properties->servers i think this is it.

there is 1 server with 0 tasks.
As this is my upload server.

I can't think of any other way to distinguish this server for upload only.

you may put some non-zero number of tasks and disable the server instead (ensure the "edit menu->properties->tasks->disengage article tasks from disabled servers" option is checked, i think it is the default).

then when you need to post you enable the server instead of changing the number of tasks to non-zero.

with zero tasks the behaviour is UE takes into account those servers (so it waits until you change the number to non-zero and otherwise failed tasks will persist in the articles pane), what you want is to use the disabled server option, it is exactly what you need.

disabling a server - in servers pane of the workspace right click the server, then invoke advanced->disable server from the context menu, you'll see red X over the server icon.

Wouldn't it be better to uncheck "Get headers" and "Get bodies" from the posting servers properties?
I assume you can still post with those unchecked.

yes, i think this is much better way to achieve the same without tweaking options when you need to post.

Can I save a file manually

Was the original issue ever resolved? I too have occasional problems saving incomplete bodies. Some bodies won't save automatically. No doubt at 229 days, they're incomplete on the server, so it's a matter of being unable to save 780MB/ 16 rars at %88 - %99 complete. I can sometimes recover by trying another server or restarting UE, but that doesn't always work. All servers have tasks, tasks suspend is not checked, and ignore errors is checked. Manually retried tasks stay active for fifteen seconds before returning to pending state. Half the required pars are available.

i'm not aware about any such issue.

if you don't see any running tasks in the running pane (the next pane to the right of the articles pane in the task manager) and you see those tasks in the pending state the reason should be in settings.

e.g. try to disable servers one by one, when all servers are disabled all tasks will disappear, try to do it in different order, if it all narrowed to a single server look at its settings.

other reason can be a server reached "download limit" (verify properties->general, servers, exceeding download limit, when download limit reaches... set to 0.

in short tasks shouldn't remain pending in the articles pane (they should be transferred to the error pane) when there is no reason.

Thanks Alex! I have a mostly default setup on another OS that does as you say it should. The "detect yenc errors" selection left unchecked is the first setting I see different than on the broken setup. I'm sure I've fixed the same before, but memory fades.
