I've just comeback to UseNet Explorer an GigaNews after a year off.
I wonder if I've set something up wrong - I am able to search, but whenever I try to download, I get the 502 SSL access not allowed (Server) error.
Anyone have a thought on what I could be doing wrong?
I cut and pasted my username/password, and have to set for port 563.
Any help is appreciated...
502 SSL Access not allowed
does your package include SSL? giganews is the only provider which charges extra for SSL. you may contact their support as well, but the message means SSL is actually working since it couldn't get the error message without SSL session estabilished, so it is something with your subscription terms with them.
other providers include SSL for free and you can get the same service 2 to 3 times cheaper $10 to $15 per month, sometimes quarterly basis, depending on whether it is sale or not.
