Download speed slows when saving in 3.71 64bit. Ok in 32bit.

It appears that when a file is being saved in the 64bit version of UE 3.71 my download slows from a constant 47Mb/s to >1Mb/s and then goes back to 47Mb/s once the file has been saved.
I installed the 32bit verison on the same machine and it downloads constantly at 47Mb/s throughout the saving process.
The download speed appears to slow once the save bar in UE is approx 2/3 full.
If I disable the saving option for a period to allow the files to queue, then the behavour is not seen until I release the queue to start saving.

I am using GigaNews Accelorator to watch the bandwidth usage, and this is quite quick and appears quite accurate.
It is also very visible in the Task Manage/Network graph.

I am using Windows 7(x64) and have no AV software running.

I understand there are many variables involved which can affect download speed (contention etc), but I have performed a number of tests and the results are consistant.

Since this is the 1st time I have installed the 64 bit version, I do not know if this behavour was present in previous versions.

I had the same behavour on the 32bit version on the Windows 7 (x64) machine. Running the 32bit version on Windows 7 (x86) was fine.

I guess its back to the drawing board :-(

Maybe it is some difference in system file caching and when files are comitted to the disk, may depend on the amount of RAM installed, is it the same computer?

If you use download&save with subsequent deleting, downloaded article bodies may avoid being comitted to the physical storage (UE doesn't flush downloaded article bodies), so if saving is not slower then downloading work prior to saving might be well contained in RAM.

When unpacking (repairing/joining/unraring/loading files manually into unpack pane) it takes disk resources as well, verfying files is done on fly.
