When I download files I can get several versions of increasing size.

For example, if I download a file called xxx.rar I get xxx.rar, xxx (1).rar, xxx (2).rar all increasing in size. All but the last are incomplete.

I was using 3.2.2 when I came across this. In Save/Unpack I had Auto-Rename for Duplicate file names. I think I had bypass database storage but can't remember. I was downloading parts from two servers.

I don't know what might be causing UE to save a file before it is completely downloaded.

Try to disable retry failed article tasks in edit menu->properties->tasks.

There is some logic in place, e.g. it won't save the same content twice after download error, but if you set it to autorename - it will save using a different name if the file exists and the downloaded file has changed (i.e. more parts are now available).

UE doesn't save until the file has been downloaded, it happens only after all retries are exhausted and the download fails (article moves to the error pane), unless the file is being posted on the server and you download headers at the same time it may indicate news server problem, look at the article errors task manager pane (red question sign tab after the articles tab when there are errors if no errors it will be grey) what is the problem there.

Save direct is disabled for auto rename mode.
