Getting the too many users response.

Seems to be working again.

I'm not getting any response. It'll just sit there for several minutes with the "cancel" button up, and then the button turns back to "search" with no error or results. I've been having problems of various sorts off and on for weeks now.

The same here for the last few weeks. An awful lot of time-outs after minutes. About one tenth of the searches give a result, so it is just pressing cancel/search after 5s without a response. It is just tonight that I am getting the too many users again.

I think the time-outs are related to the latest firmware update of my Thomson TWG870U cable modem (UPC The Netherlands). They will replace it with a Cisco this Thursday.
You do not happen to have a Thomson modem also, would you?

EDIT: They replaced my modem with a Cisco and all problems with time-outs were gone immediately. Working perfectly like the past few years.

If you have access to a laptop and/or a different internet connection you can try out whether the problem is related to your cable modem.
A laptop and the try-out version of UE can be helpful there.

I've addressed "too many users", one server was out of RAM, it could also cause the occational delays before "too many users".

Missed the post from two days ago, when I was checking search it was working, noticed too many users indication on the server only today.

If you see anything unusal like search delays - apart from posting to forum you can also use contact form, I won't miss it for sure then.

I'll try to add some kind of free memory monitoring on all search service computers so I can easily see it here to avoid RAM overflow issues, it happened on a computer which is responsible for older retention I didn't check it frequently.
