Autoshut down Windows and Windows 2k

Hi, I'm using NewsPro on a Win2k machine - SP4 and all updates and patches up to Oktober 2003 are installed. When I set NewsPro to shutdown Windows after all tasks are finished it only appears that Windows shuts down: programs and tasks are being ended and the screen "You can turn off the computer now" (or something like that) appears. But the computer doesn't shut down afterwards.

Anyone knows what's causing the problem and how I can solve it?

Thanks
Ingo

I have the same problem here. I tried it on three W2000 machines and one NT4 machine. None of them powers off, although other software, like Nero, can.

I have had contact with Alex about two months ago.
It seems the function that is used has the option to A. 'only shutdown windows' or B. 'shutdown windows and power off the computer'.
On W98 and XP both options will power off the computer. Microsoft acknowledges this is not according to spec and for XP they might fix it in a future update.
For a machine with power management not configured properly (like most NT4 machines) or a machine not capable of automatic power off, when you use the power off option it will reboot.
This is why Alex chose to use option A.
Unfortunately this does not help us with W2000 machines.
Alex said he would look into it, but I understand he has been busy with other things lately.

It would be nice to hear if someone has managed to get Newspro to power off their computer running W2000

An elegant fix might be to let the user choose between 'shutdown windows' or 'shutdown windows and power off'.

Same here. I'm using newspro 3.71 on Windows XP pro.
I used the "finish all task and shutdown windows" only twice and both time I found my PC still on the day after with the message "you may turn off system power".
I wonder what could be the problem since with standard shutdown from Start menu power is turned off.
